This is a painting that was done in order to comemorate the lives of the six young people who were murdered and the two who were wounded at a rave party on Seattle’s Capital Hill.  I don’t usually paint topical subject matter but it occurred to me that it could have just as easily been one of my own children who were killed.  The social implications of this type of heinous act is repeated all too often in our society and I decided to allude to Picasso’s depiction of the violence that was perpetrated upon the Spanish town of Guernica.
